During the 2000's decade, George sang at the ACM's and CMA's almost exclusively.....seldom appearing on other television shows.....here are some highlights of his various award show performances......
George sang "Desperately" at the 2004 ACM's..his grey on grey shirt/jacket looked especially good on him......
At the 2004 CMA's....he sang "I Hate Everything" by himself (below) and together with Jimmy Buffett, Clint Black, Kenny C., Alan J. and Toby Keith performed "Hey Good Lookin'..."...in one of the highlights of the night.....(above a closeup of George during that performance)
In 2005, the CMA's took country to New York City....George and Lee Ann Womack won the CMA Award for Vocal Event for "Good News, Bad News"....unfortunately, that award was presented prior to air time, depriving fans from being able to see George receiving the honor...luckily, during the telecast, George sang a spirited version of "High Tone Woman", looking especially dapper in his black suit and white shirt, topped with his sexy black hat.....(left, below).....
In 2006, George sang "Give it Away" at the CMAs just prior to being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame by Kris Kristofferson.....
George sings "Wrapped" at the 2007 ACM Awards....prior to that performance he won the first award of the night for Song of the Year (Give it Away) which he shared with the songwriters, then his name was called again for Single of the Year for the same song later in the broadcast.....
During the 2007 CMAs, he delighted fans by singing "How 'bout Them Cowgirls".....later, "Give it Away" was named Song of the Year and George was ecstatic when "It Just Comes Natural" received the Album of the Year Award.....
George rehearses for his 2008 ACM performance....(right)....he sang "I Saw God Today" first...then joined Kenny Chesney for a fun rendition of their duet "Shiftwork"....see photos below....
At the 2008 CMAs, George sang "River of Love"...he invited the 3 songwriters of that song to sing background on stage...nice touch.....and was also busy during the show pickin' up awards...he won Single of the Year for "I Saw God Today" and Album of the Year for "Troubadour"......
